We are still looking at the list of competitors and we may be able to add few more swimmers. It is subject to Murmansk ability to increase their medical support to allow for more swimmers. We will publish any additions soon.

Flights:

Please liaise with Irina / Dmitri (3 minutes) with regard to your arrival times in Murmansk and pick up from Airport.

Accommodations:

All international swimmers will be staying at the AZIMUT hotel in the city Centre, a beautifully renovated hotel. The organizers will cover the accommodations for international participants in the 1km IISA World Champ. If you have friends, family or other participants in the Russian Winter Swimming event who wish to stay with you, we have received very attractive rates. Please liaise with Irina / Dmitri (3 minutes) with regard extra accommodations.

Announcement of IISA 1st World Championship Participating Athletes

The 1^st IISA Championship will be held in Murmansk March 2015

We have received many applications and the organizing committee had to consider various factors in selecting the participating athletes.

The first factor was time, Cutoff time is set at 24minutes for safety reasons. Other factors considered were country and gender. Some countries are new to the sport and had one or two applicants where others had over 10 applicants per country. We have allowed for few swimmers on standby in case a selected athlete pulls out by end of January 2015. After that, the list will be closed.

We would like to welcome all swimmers who haven’t been selected to join us in Murmansk to support the swimmers and participate in the Russian Winter Swimming Champ. We also welcome all Winter Swimmers around the world to support IISA champ and participate in the Russian Winter Swimming Champ in Murmansk.

Congratulation to all you frozen ones that have been selected to represent your country in the 1^st IISA World Champ.

Time to get cold and ready. Although this is a race and a world Champ, safety will be on the top of our agenda. When you train for the Champ, make sure your 50m splits don’t exceed 80sec.

Entries to IISA events are closing soon

There are several IISA events this winter.

Ireland Eastern Bay with Fergal, IISA 1st World Champ in  Russia | Murmansk, The BigChill Swim England | Lakes with Colin Hill, Ireland with Padraig and Nuala Moore, South Africa | Snowy desert.

We have decided to close entries to international Swimmer for Murmansk end of Nov-14. We will announce International Participant first week of Dec-14 to allow everyone to plan, tickets and Visa. We aim to send invitation in Dec so you can proceed with your visa applications as soon as possible, however, we don't see it as a problem, just a process.

Swim Ireland to support the 3rd Eastern Bay Invitation International Ice Mile Swim on 14 February 2015

Delighted to confirm the much awaited announcement that Eastern Bay will again host the International Ice Mile Swim in Lough Dan on Saturday, 14 February, 2015. This annual event has produced more International Ice Milers than any other in Europe. The event, by invitation only, is run under the rules of the International Ice Swimming Association and overseen by independent adjudicators and marshalled by experienced officials. To be invited participants need to be swimming regularly (at least weekly) in conditions to acclimatise to the required temperture of 5 degrees or less. Last year's swim by 7 accomplished marathon swimmers produced a new women's world record (Sabrina Wiedmer in 25:51) and Ireland's only two-time International Ice Milers in Patrick Corkery, Finbarr Hedderman and Fergal Somerville.If you are looking for an International Ice Mile Swim contact Fergal Somerville by FB or email for further details.

Welcome to our new Ice Swimmer - Wyatt Song

Our First Ice Miler in Australia.

Wyatt has been training in Icy waters from Tyumen to Murmansk to Finland and Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentinean Patagonia.

Wyatt has found a frozen lake in the Mountains of Victoria and as it deforested in the past few weeks Wyatt jumped on the opportunity to finally claim the first Ausi Ice Swimmer.

Dear Frozen ones

Winter is approaching in the North and the Ice is calling.

You may have noticed that we changed the WARM Membership to COOL after big and lengthy debate. We received proposals to change it to HOT or COOL and COOL won at the end.

A word about Membership…

Lots is happening in IISA

First of all welcome to Henri “Ice Machine” Karma who joined IISA bird to add his experience to the frozen ones.

Second we have announced our first World Champ in Murmansk Russia – this is a huge step for IISA which requires lots of preparation in safety and facilities but is bound to be absolutely wonderful experience.
