About Wade Stokes
A former swimmer in high school and water polo player in university, after thirty years of not swimming I re-discovered the sport at the IWSA World Championships in Tallinn, Estonia, in 2018. My masters swimming experience since then includes the following:
Ice Swimming Experience, M 55-59 age group, 2023:
* IWSA World Champion (25m fly, 50m free, 100m breast)
* IWSA World-Record Holder (25m fly, 100m breast)
Masters swimming experience:
* Ironman Tallinn 2020, 1st Place Relay (swim leg)
* LEN European Masters Championships 2018, M 50-54 age group (100m back 5th, 100m fly 6th, 50 fly 6th, 200 IM 7th)
As a cardiac patient who has undergone two angioplasties, I am interested in the health benefits of winter swimming for those with medical clearance.
As an American expat living in Tallinn, I have chosen to compete for Estonia, which has been my home for almost thirty years.
