About Alan Luckhurst

I am all year round swimmer at the Serpentine Swimming Club and at Sheerness on Sea. I have been swimming year round for roughly 10 years now and have competed in 9 consecutive Christmas day races at the club and have become the Clubs Vice Captain due to my prowess at racing.
In terms of winter swimming, I have competed at 4 National Championships and 4 IWSA World Championships, medalling in every event at the nation championships and placing in the top 10s regularly in the World Championships.
Last year during the winter, I was swimming regularly at Sheerness on Sea where the Sea temperature often dropped to 7 degrees and was often swimming 600-800m a swim at the beach once a week.
In the summer, I also look to do several longer swims with a few 4 hour, sub channel temperature qualifying, swims completed. I also look to try and swim 2k in water when it gets up to between 12-13 degrees in spring.
Outside of outdoor swimming, I am an active Masters swimming competing in several competitions around the country with qualification times in many events for the National and European championships.
