About Lelané Rossouw-Bancroft
Lanie is originally from Jeffreys Bay, South Africa she now resides in the USA. Growing up surfing and swimming in the Indian Ocean she started long distance open water swimming in 2007 in Cape Town, South Africa. Since then she has successfully completed many international solo swims and events, including the 5.5 mile Robben Island Swim, 8.2 mile Pennock Island Challenge Swim, 4.4 mile Great Chesapeake Bay Bridge Swim and the 10 mile Kingdom Swim. In September 2011, Lanie became the first woman and person to swim solo across the Delaware Bay wearing only a swimsuit.
