About Rafaela Grabert
I’m a Brazilian living in the USA for 23 years.
Although I’m not a competitive swimmer, I consider myself a serious swimmer; I love swimming in the pool or any body of water, and definitely prefer cold over warm waters. I became fascinated with ice water swimming when I read about it at the New York Times in 2016. Ever since I have been dreaming about trying it.
Since I live in Florida I do not have that many opportunities to swim in cold water, but at ever change I’m in a cold weather region I give it a try. Recently on a visit to Boston, I was able to swim at Walden Pond in sub 10 Celsius, which I believe was my record for cold swimming, I have plunged in colder water before.
My goal in 2024 is to swim the 500 m in an ice swimming event!
