About Katy Jones
I have been living by the coast in Bournemouth for 17 years, and spent most of that time in the water. My happy place is Shore Road beach near Sandbanks where I swim with Beyond The Blue, but I also like to spread my water wings along the coast and also swim with the Just Swim crew at Southbourne. My swimming has ramped up in the last few years and I have completed an English Channel Relay with the Salty Seagals, the Scilly Swim Challenge round all 5 islands, Lake Coniston solo, an Old Harry to The Needles relay, a Bournemouth bay end to end swim (in place of a cancelled Windermere solo), and a Loch Lomond solo end to end swim. The training for all of these has included some epic swims that in some cases were harder than the actual event themselves due to logistics and conditions. I swim all year round and jump in any water I can find, the colder the better. I discovered PHISH a few years ago and my first trip there was a baptism of fire as I took part in every single race. An ice mile has been on my radar for the last few years, but training for other swims has taken priority, but hopefully 2024 is the year for my first attempt with my pals.
